Jewellery for the Back

The work consists of six pieces: The knobbly forms are individually engraved/cut natural grey agates, each with a hollow containing silver/steel pin mechanics. Those are mounted in shaped silver sheet pieces. Every piece has a separate counter-pin, consisting of a wee silver plate and a grooved steel wire. The pin is pushed through fabric and clicks into the mechanics hidden in the stone.

The artist played with the idea of “doing something for the back”. Normally all our jewellery is worn on the front of our body. Almost all of man’s communication is face – orientated. This body adornment sends a message from the back of a person, but it can also be worn at other places on the clothed body.
